THE ARTIST OF THE WEEK
Natacha Withøft (1982) is a Danish artist based in London. Natacha lived and studied abroad in Madrid before moving to Devon to train as an Art and Photography teacher. She is currently completing an MA in Photography at the London College of Communication.
Natacha’s work focuses on the recent renewed interest in analogue photography and was exhibited earlier this year as part of the Analogue East group show at The Old Dentist’s in London. Her current work, The Analogue World of J. Birkett and others, will be on display at the MAP 12 exhibition at the London College of Communication in November.
Natacha received a Post Graduate Certificate in Secondary Art & Design Education from the University of Plymouth and has successfully taught A-Level Fine Art Photography for several years, encouraging her students to experiment with a mixture of traditional analogue processes and digital media.
The Analogue World of J. Birkett and others is a collection of photographs taken in analogue and repair shops across England and Denmark. Concerned with the idea that materiality is disappearing from an increasingly digital world, her found still life images selectively focus on everyday microdetails and textures that are usually overlooked; worn edges and utilitarian objects marked with the patina of use.
