Lisa Pickles (working alias Pickled Tees) is so fresh off the screen-printing press that she’s only been around September of this year. I discovered her work perusing my favourite craft/maker blog Reetsweet, who organise regular craft fairs in Leeds and Sheffield showcasing all the finest fashionable and quirky handmade crafts the local area has to offer. Pickled Tees is one of Reetsweet’s latest sellers, and like Reetsweet, I am head-over-heels for her unusual, beautifully intricate (and dare I say a little bizarre) designs.
Hand-drawn with ink and nib, Lisa then screen prints her drawings onto soft cotton tees using environmentally friendly water-based inks. Seemingly inspired by myths, legends, dreams and the natural world, her designs are the definition of weird and wonderful; butterflies, apes, squids, bugs, birds and bears wearing braces are all blurred together in outstanding detail to create garments that are both utterly awesome and completely unique.
Pickled Tees is currently in the process of setting up her website, but in the meantime you can check out her Facebook for all the latest goings on.
